The American Epidemic

Oh no what’s this, an American epidemic is in full swing

We insist on being entertained but what does it bring?

This infectious disease controls the minds and time of millions

Perhaps if we valued our time we’d make actually make billions

Hey what up, I want to post a status about lunch and dinner

I use the internet to interact because I’m not a winner

I’m not normally cool so I create a different life

One where anyone would want to be my husband/wife

I have no friends in real life so I add people I don’t know

Why? Because I’m cool and just going with the flow

I say hey dude check my profile out I’ve got 1000 friends

But here I am home alone, web-surfin’ becuz it’s all pretend

When did it become okay to stalk your friend’s friend?

Or to look at pictures of events you never attend

It’s the 21^st century, its normal they say

But come on really that’s just an excuse to prey

So if the only way to contact a “friend” is to write on their wall,

I’m saying so long, farewell to those folks ya’ll

If keeping-in-touch comes at the price of this “book”

I think I’d rather save “face” and socialize with real, life crooks

Choices choices choices...08 (written before election on facebook blog)

This years presidential election is an interesting one to say the least... Regardless of which party wins, history will be made: the first black president or the first female vice president. Each side has it's flaws and as we draw ever closer to Nov. 4th, those flaws are magnified times ten and often blown way out of proportion. 

Sarah Palin has already held office in Alaska, yes, I do understand that; however to me, being the VP of the United States is a whole different story. I don't understand how she can be as dedicated to her family as she says she is, but at the same time show the same dedication and time needed to run this country. I've never been a parent, but from what I gather a child is a handful, and she has five. I don't discount her knowledge, potential, or will-power. All I know is the chance you can give enough time and attention to a one year old with down syndrome and run our country are pretty slim. 

On the other hand, I do not find the other option very enticing either. If Barack Obama applied for a job with the FBI or with the Secret Service, he would be disqualified because of his past association with William Ayers, a known terrorist. If he were elected President, he would not qualify to be his own body guard. Sure these are shallow reasons, but come on people that are ex-convicts (not saying Obama is!) can have a difficult time getting a job anywhere because of crimes they've committed in the past. So are we going to let Obama slide into the most important position in our country with gray areas on his record?
